Autumn Heart

I gaze upon an Autumn tree –

It’s dying limbs falling numb.

Whole becomes half

In the second of a season.

The Autumn tree’s crying sap

Down the dark brown bark.

Like losing someone loved –

It’s deeply sorry to the roots.

Lonley among thousands

In the deepest of forests.

Amputated but strong

The Autumn tree keeps fighting until spring.
